a TON of money and love the large screen and easy updates on the charts. So well have to help with a little bit of owner-drawing. Not to be confused with the REAL PolarView! I did a bit of a double-take the guy who runs PolarView has an office down the corridor from me! And, if you look at it (for fun - I don't suggest it has practical application for many of us), you'll see that the area of interest is similar. go with a laptop chartplotting program like polarview or OpenCpn or MacENC. If that ran on the Asus, it could be extremely interesting. Polar View delivers information about sea ice and icebergs direct to ships operating in the Arctic region. I do use two different chart types with the older one in OpenCPN and the newer (raster) in PolarView so maybe it is just a graphics generation thing. My guess it has to do with available memory but thats just a guess.

Personally, I use mac for everything except sailing! However very interestingly, there is also a linux version which I will play with too. Sometimes it is fast and sometimes it can take maybe 5 seconds. It does not seem to show the same level of detail as maxsea, but it seems all you need in practice. The grib viewer certainly works and displays gribs! I have not been able to play with other aspects. PC Plotter is a simple to use PC or laptop chart plotter designed for sailing.
